This presents a problem in that if the ECU can’t determine your boost pressure, it cannot adjust your fueling to compensate for it. In order to get around this in the past, we have forced the ECU into “Open-Loop Mode” where it stops “closing the loop” in monitoring the MAP sensor and simply dumps in the fuel that it’s told to in the table. While this methodology works, it doesn’t allow the ECU to properly monitor and control fueling and all the safety features that come along with that. In addition, in order to trigger an “Open-Loop” condition, we would have to set it up so that over 50% throttle would go into that mode. This means that partial throttle boosting, and even rolling slowly onto the throttle was simply, impossible. These two scenarios would keep the ECU stuck in a Closed-Loop condition and therefore, it would not be able to compensate for boost and could lead to a dangerous lean condition for your engine!

SOLUTION:

The MAP sensor on the BK2 2.0T Hyundai Genesis Coupe (sold separately) can see up to 28psi and shares the same electrical plug connector as the 3.8’s, but the problem is that it is physically bigger than the hole in the Intake Manifold for the stock MAP sensor on the 3.8 Genesis Coupes. Made of Billet Aluminum 6061-T6 and anodized black, our MAP sensor adapter mimics the interface of the stock 3.8 MAP sensor to the intake manifold on one end, and allows for the larger 2.0T MAP sensor to be attached on the other. Since the harness and plug is the same, all that is needed is an AlphaSpeed MAP tune to take full advantage of the capability of the new sensor! The new sensor, coupled with the RP MAP sensor adapter, allows the ECU to hit target AFR’s regardless of boost level by compensating for the correct amount of fuel based on the information from the new sensor!

So to recap, YOU NEED 3 THINGS to make this work:

1) Remnant Performance MAP Sensor Adapter

2) Delphi PS10152 MAP sensor from the BK2 2.0T. Here is a link to purchase it: Click Here

3) MAP enabled tune from AlphaSpeed.
